The Carlmont Instrumental Music program relies on parent support to maintain and grow our outstanding music program. We are asking each family to volunteer to support our music program! We have many opportunities with varying degrees of time commitment. As volunteer opportunities arise and are developed for the 2026-2027 school year, they will be posted here.
Some positions require volunteer clearance. Review the district volunteer information and apply for volunteer clearance early in the school year.
Open Music Boosters Board roles and shadows
There are 5 board meetings held throughout the school year in the evenings. Except the year-end meeting, all are online meetings.
VP Volunteers Shadow
Attend Music Booster Board meetings and shadow the current VP Volunteers with the intent to fill the role for the 2027-28 school year.

Tour Co-Coordinator
Support the Director and Assistant Director to plan an unforgettable, enriching trip for the advanced ensembles in Spring of 2027! Coordinate teams of parents to arrange travel and transportation logistics (destination, flight and hotel) and itinerary (excursions, food, musical opportunities and entertainment events). This role starts ASAP, as we need to start tour planning ASAP.
Merchandise Coordinator
Track incoming Carlmont merchandise orders (t-shirts, hoodies, etc.) and prepare inventory for teachers to distribute. This position requires most of the work in the beginning of the school year, with minimal trips to campus. Check out our student store to get an idea of what we sell! This position starts ASAP as we have merch the students will need ASAP for August Kick-off (8/5 through 8/7) and an early fall performance.
Merchandise Table
Process Carlmont merchandise sales (t-shirts, hoodies, etc.) during performances and coordinate with the Merchandise Lead to prepare inventory for distribution. This position requires minimal trips to campus. Check out our student store to get an idea of what we sell!
Hospitality Lead
Coordinate providing refreshments for student events 2-4 times during the school year; expenses will be reimbursed by Music Boosters.
Awards Lead Shadow
Work with the current Awards Lead for 2026-27 to learn the position with the intent of taking on the position for 2027-28.
Lead Usher
Manages teams of parent and student ushers at performances. Coordinates with Performance Chair and Carlmont Theater Manager, trains volunteers on theater safety (as requested), seating and house rules. This position only requires campus presence during performances.
Volunteer Brigade
Be part of a list of volunteers who are willing to help with tasks that come up throughout the year. These are generally one-time requests that require a quick pick-up, drop-off or at-home task. Requests and specific instructions will go out to the Volunteer Brigade email list.
